What Can Affect your Hair Transplant?

When you finally have decided what kind of surgery you will want to help with your hair loss situation you will want to look at the various things that can affect it. Here are a list of things that could affect your hair transplant and the way it heals.

Smoking-It is best if you stop smoking a week before you have surgery, but because that is so difficult for some people than you should at least stop 24 hours before you have your hair transplant surgery. Smoking can cause your hair transplants to not fully heal as they are supposed to.

Alcohol- Make sure you have your last alcoholic drink three days before you go in for your hair transplants.

Aspirin or Anti-inflammatory medication- Do not take any medication that has aspirin or anti-inflammatory ingredients in it two weeks before your surgery.

Prescription Medication- Anti-depressants, beta blockers and blood thinners should all be stopped two weeks before hair transplant surgery.

Vitamins- multivitamin, mineral and herbal supplements are all vitamins that should be stopped two weeks before you have surgery.

Cutting hair- You should not cut your hair when it comes to having hair transplant surgery because you need some hair to attach the hair grafts too.

Most of these medications or vitamins can cause hair transplant to be unsuccessful or to not heal properly. Most doctors say a few days after surgery you can start your regular routine once again.

After most hair transplant surgeries you will be given some pain medication with codeine in it. However, simple Motrin or Tylenol from your own home will suffice for the discomfort you will feel.

If you find that you are having more pain after surgery and it has become so painful you cannot bear it anymore than call your doctor, you could have an infection.
