| Books for Iraq was created by pharmacists who wish to contribute to the rebuilding Iraqi Schools of Pharmacy.
What do we hope to achieve?
Obviously any help we can give to Iraq is limited in nature, however we hope to be able to raise anough money to send out a range of medical
and pharmaceutical textbooks to Iraqi Schools of Pharmacy.
How much of the money will get to Iraq?
Money will not be sent to Iraq directly, but textbooks will be sent directly. It is hoped to keep shipping costs as low as possible and ensure that the money is spent on books.
The costs of this website, and any other incidental costs will be covered by the organisers of this site.
Why bother?
Pharmacists offer valuable health services in the communities they work within, as well as in hospitals. The safe supply of drugs, and drug information, is an essential tool of public health. By helping this project you will be directly helping the Iraqi Universities and
academics and students, and indirectly helping the general Iraqi population.
Why just pharmacy?
Pharmacy is our area of expertise, and a manageable project for those of us involved. The British Council
has made efforts to supply educational material to Iraqi Universities, but Pharmacy Schools still require a great deal of help.
Who can donate?
Anyone! Donations from private individuals are welcome, but if you work for a pharmaceutical company and think your company would like to contribute that would be welcome also.
